What is a Doula?
Doulas are trained, non-medical professionals with knowledge in an array of topics surrounding birth and parenting, depending on their scope of practice. As a full-spectrum doula, I am trained in fertility, pregnancy, labor, postpartum, and newborn care. As a doula, I have three main areas in which I support families.

Physical
Physical support can include: accompanying you to fertility appointments, providing comfort measures during labor, assisting with breastfeeding, or demonstrating swaddling techniques for your newborn.
Informational
Informational support can include: providing you with evidence-backed research and resources, helping you to understand the risks and benefits of different interventions, and helping you to ask the right questions to service providers.

Emotional
Emotional support can include: listening to you, being a non-judgmental presence, guiding you through healthy thinking processes, and having counseling referrals available.
